PSG Defeats Olympique de Marseille via Spot-Kicks to Secure Trophee des Champions Super Cup in the Middle East.

Trophy celebration scene

The Parisian club has now won the prestigious cup on fourteen separate times.

The Parisian giants required a stoppage-time equaliser followed by a perfect spot-kick decider to overcome Marseille in the Gulf and secure a fourth straight French Super Cup title.

The European champions seemed to be coasting towards a comfortable triumph in the showdown featuring the French league champions and the Coupe de France holders after Ousmane Dembele found the scoring early on.

Yet, Marseille struck two times in the closing moments to take a shock lead. Initially, the English forward converted from the spot-kick, before the defender unfortunately directed the ball into his own net for an own goal.

In a remarkable twist of events, the Portuguese striker snatched a crucial leveler in the final seconds to force the contest into a deciding shootout. The Parisian shot-stopper Lucas Chevalier then stood as the key figure, saving decisive kicks from O'Riley and Traore.

From the spot, Ramos, Vitinha, the full-back, and Desire Doue all converted successfully for Paris Saint-Germain to seal a convincing shootout victory.

The record champions Paris Saint-Germain, who met last season's Ligue 1 second-placed team Olympique de Marseille after completing a league and cup double, have now won this competition for the 12th time in the past 13 years.
